Ministerial Licensing

A ministerial license is an important and practical way to acknowledge a person’s calling to a life devoted to ministering to the Body of Christ, especially through the preaching and teaching of the Word of God.

A license admits a person into the ministerial fellowship of the UPCI, and as such it places him or her in a fellowship of ministers who hold the same fundamental doctrine. A license gives a minister credibility in his or her community, both inside and outside the church.

A local license is the usual point of entry for a new minister, and the progressive levels of licensing—local, general, and ordination—provide a pathway of growth for a minister.
